MUMBAI: Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport becomes the very first airport to be featured on the postage stamps by the Indian Department of Posts.
The Department has issued two postage stamps to commemorate the completion of 75 years of glorious operations of the Mumbai International Airport.
At an event in Mumbai, H.C. Agrawal (Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra) unveiled the stamps of Rs. 5 and Rs. 15 respectively.
The event was also in honor of Late JRD Tata, piloted the first flight of Tata Air Services from Karachi to Mumbai via Ahmedabad.
The passenger traffic increased with the passage of time and this needs systematic development of the airport.
The terminal also supports the country’s largest public art programme, ‘Jaya He’ which brings together artwork from every corner of India for travelers to witness in one monumental installation.
