Modi Announces New Delhi-San Francisco direct Flights

Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, on his recent visit to San Jose, fulfilleda long pending request of Indian IT professionals, settled in the Silicon Valley, by announcing Air India’s non-stop direct flights from San Francisco to several major Indian cities.

Reiterating the long awaited request of the Indian diaspora, Mr. Ashwani Lohani, CMD, Air India, stated that the direct flights to San Francisco would start as early as December 2nd, 2015.

Already catering to three major American cities of New York, Newark and Chicago, with non-stop direct flights, San Francisco would be the national carrier’s fourth city in the United States.

The Air India Boeing 777-200 LR, would start its operations from December 2nd, 2015, on all Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, with a suitable early morning departure and arrival. Likewise, the return flight from San Francisco would start early and arrive in New Delhi by afternoon.

This US West Coast destination would be a convenient advantage for the students, business travelers and the NRIs settled in this part of the country as this would make their travel easy and helpful.

The new destination would connect major Indian cities, such as, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Pune and Bhubaneswar.

Promoting Air India’s Discover India Scheme on the occasion of World Tourism Day, Mr. Ashwani Lohani said that more similar schemes would be launched to further develop the link between tourism and civil aviation sectors.

The Discover India Scheme gives an option to its passengers to buy a maximum of 5 or 10 economy class coupons. The cost of 5 coupons is Rs. 32,500to be availed within 15 days and the option of 10 coupons is at a cost of Rs. 60,000, to be availed within 30 days.

The Air India CMD, further presented the Incredible Air India holiday packages, starting from December 1st, 2015, in association with the State Tourism Development Corporations. The objective of this scheme is to let the tourist savor the delectable sights and sounds of India in a relaxed, cost-effective and pleasurable style.
