Chandigarh International Airport Introducing The Wi-Fi Facility After Two Years Of Inauguration
At Chandigarh International Airport, the passengers visiting the new terminal will soon be able to enjoy free access to Wi-Fi facility. BSNL which has been awarded for its exceptional work for installing Wi-Fi at the airport on Saturday stated, “The services would likely be thrown open for public on June 29.” The officials also added that the testing regarding the same has been completed by BSNL and the airport authorities.
On the same, The General Manager of BSNL Telecom District, Chandigarh; JS Sahota has also told the Chandigarh Newsline that “The installation has been completed and from next Thursday i.e. June 29, we are expecting to start the Wi-Fi services for passengers at the airport,” He added, the testing process of this service was successfully conducted on Saturday.
Sahota also mentioned that the passengers can enjoy the free access to Wi-Fi services for the first 15 minutes. After that, the services will be chargeable. There would be cards available which the passengers can pick from if they want to continue the services.
Actually, the passengers have been demanding for a very long time regarding the Wi-Fi services which must be available at the Chandigarh International Airport. Hence the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority i.e. AERA of India started the charging User Development Fee of Rs 250 on the outgoing passengers at the airport from 1st of May.
As the airport was inaugurated two years back in 2015, hence the passengers are yet to get all the facilities at the airport. After two years, the Airport Authorities was awarded a tender for setting up 14 food and beverage outlets at the airport.
Currently, the airport supports the operations of the two International flights and about 36 domestic flights. In addition to that, there is an increase in the number of passengers using the airport as per the data released by the Airport Authority.
