Chandigarh International Airport is an international airport which serves the Indian states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
Talking about the airport runway, it is located in the Union territory of Chandigarh and the international terminal is located on the south side of the runway.
Practically, the airport is situated in the village of Jhiurheri, Mohali, Punjab.
And the Chandigarh airport code is IXC.
TERMINALS:
The airport has an old domestic terminal which is replaced by a new one. The former Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi inaugurated the new terminal in 2015. Being built by Larsen and Toubro, this new eco-friendly terminal is one of its kinds in India.
Multiple travelers can witness plants in the indoor area of the airport. It brings a feeling of a botanical garden.
Talking about the old terminals, it is now used for VIPs and flying club. The new terminal comprises 4 aerobridges for parking and 8 remote parking stands for aircraft.
The first floor of the airport is used for the departures and the ground floor is used for arrivals. The first phase terminal which is covered over an area of 53,000 sq meters supports more than 1,600 passengers at a time along with a parking space for 150 vehicles.
AIRPORT FACILITIES:
When we talk about the facilities offered at Chandigarh International Airport, it is equipped with all the facilities for its passengers. At present, the terminal contains restaurants, lounges, televisions, snack bars, money changer and cosmetics & skincare products outlet.
Despite this, there is some kind of stuff which you may not get at the airport. It includes duty-free shops mainly.
Tourism Information Counter:
There is tourism information counter available at arrival hall which is run by Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (CITCO) to provide tourism information to the arriving passengers.

TRANSPORTATION:
Connectivity by Bus:
There are two bus terminals available at the Mohali airport. Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) offers a comprehensive connectivity between these terminals. Along with that, there are also facilities like air-conditioned and normal buses plying throughout the day between the terminals.
Some of the other options are the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Sector 43. It provides connectivity to all major destinations to states like Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and more.
This service is also available in Sector 17 which offers connectivity to all major towns of Haryana and Delhi.
Connectivity by Taxi:
Talking about the taxi services, there are not many private local taxi services available in the city. The Radio taxi services counter is available at the domestic arrival hall.
EATING OPTIONS:
You can enjoy a number of food options at Mohali international airport. The city offers you to taste the mixture of hearty Punjabi fare like tandoori chicken and chana bhaturas along with the snazzy fast food outlets serving burgers and ice creams.
In addition to that, there are a lot of good restaurants in Sector 17 and a few eating-places located in sector 22. You can easily find alcohol here as there are some pubs in these two sectors serving beer on tap.

Good airport, infrastructure is built for the future. There is not much in terms of shopping/entertainment at the moment. Unfortunately, I have had delayed flights whenever I’ve flown from this airport, which adds more fuel to the lack of hangout places. Hopefully, it will be better next time.

We were pleasantly surprised at how well organized and the way this airport has been set up. The arrival hall is spacious and is well almost pleasant! This is a fairly new airport so there were no horrible smells from the washrooms that one braces oneself for say in Delhi airport. Good signage and limited options (mostly taxi services) to take you to nearby Chandigarh or other cities and town in Punjab and Himachal.

The airport has a very good ambiance and good facilities for both arrivals and departures. The maintenance of toilets is especially excellent. In my experience, this is one of the best airports in its category in India and if maintained well it has the potential to be a top global airport.
