Qatar Airways Come Up With In-flight High-Speed Internet!
Now, Qatar Airways put forward a new facility offering the free ‘Super Wi-Fi’ high-speed internet for one hour. This broadband connectivity is available in all its Boeing 777 and Airbus A350 aircraft. The Inmarsat’s GX Aviation technology feature is used. Passengers can access the internet by purchasing it if they are on the flight for a longer time.
The Chief Executive of Qatar Airways Group Akbar Al Baker said, “In another first for the MENA region, Qatar Airways passengers can now enjoy high-speed broadband connectivity. Whether using the internet for work or relaxation during their journey, providing rich content without restriction. Business travelers, in particular, will be able to maximize their ‘office in the sky’ with seamless continuity.”
The technology selected by Qatar Airways is the same high-tech provider used by the Airways to track its flights worldwide. Inmarsat’s GX Aviation technology uses a network of satellites, detect signals transmitted from aircraft. It relays this information reporting speed, location, and direction, to ground-based receivers.
The president of Inmarsat Aviation Philip Balaam said, “We are delighted that Qatar Airways are now pioneering our game-changing GX Aviation in-flight broadband across the globe. This service makes the airline’s award-winning, five-star onboard experience by allowing passengers to seamlessly browse the internet, stream videos, check social media and more during flights.”
Qatar Airways provides its network to the maximum all over the world including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America. It operates a modern fleet of more than 200 aircraft to more than 150 key business and leisure destinations.
