Facial Recognition Now Used To Board British Airways Passengers At LAX
To save your time and energy, the international British Airways is going paperless. Yes, now the passengers will get on board at LAX.
For seamless traveling experience, British Airways self-service biometric boarding gates use facial recognition technology to get passengers on board. These clear five passengers at a time without the use of a boarding ticket.
Justin Erbacci (chief innovation & tech officer with Los Angeles World Airports) mentioned that “We know this technology is innovation that will make our airport better, the passenger journey easier and our borders safer.”
For domestic flights, you will find these machines in other countries and airports too. But for international flights, British Airways is the first airline to use this technique.
The biometric technology can easily recognize your face through passport, visa or government ID photos already in the system. All you need is to stand on the mat and the gate will open if you’re approved.
This technique is not only easy and convenient but also is faster than the usual boarding process.
Some of the next airlines that will be unveiling the machines at their LAX gates in the next 30 days are Lufthansa, Qantas, and Korean Airlines.
