Delayed Baggage? With New American Airlines Technology, You Won’t Have To Wait in Line

On Thursday, American Airline has announced regarding the new updates to its mobile app which is based upon the tracking down the luggage of the passengers.

The airlines unveiled a proactive customer notification system which will let the passengers get aware of their baggage status whether it is arriving late or on time. This will help the travelers to be prepared and fix their minds to wait for the baggage.

How Does This Thing Work?

In case, any passengers are facing a delay of the baggage, he/she can easily find out the status of the same by filling a baggage order on their mobile devices and also have the option to specify where they want their luggage delivered. And the best part of this service is that they don’t need to wait and stand in huge lines.

In addition to that, passengers can also get the notification which let the passengers know whether their bags arrive early or late. This will direct the multiple travelers to a customer service office to pick them up.

This new service from the US carriers is said to be the innovative step which just provides relief to the passengers who hassle out of checking a bag.

Along with this, American Airlines also launched a live tracking feature in the year 2015 which allows the customers to use their mobile devices to follow their baggage as they move from the airport and onto the plane.

This live bag facility has become increasingly standard among the US carriers. The experimentation with the new technologies would allow the passengers to check their luggage independently without any additional help of an agent.

The company said in a statement, “Customer baggage notification is an exciting innovation that helps take care of our customers and our team members get more time to help those who have complicated baggage claims.” As a result of this, multiple customers are able to get more information quickly.

This innovative technology helps the airlines and makes them reduce the cases of a number of bags lost or mishandled.

Massive Improvements from Last year:

In the year 2016, the industry’s rate regarding the mishandled bags is 2.7 per 1000 passengers and this is considered as the best performance till date since the Department of Transportation started keeping track in 1987.

In 2016, American ranked behind with 3.38 mishandled bags per 1,000 passengers. But the performance of the carrier is improving as in the first three months of 2017, there are 22 percent fewer mishandled bags compared to the previous year.
