India to Allow More Than 3200 International Flights Per Week
During this summer schedule that commences on this Sunday, India has decided to allow over 3200 international flights per week. Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the aviation regulator, has said that for Indian carriers 1466 departures have been approved in a week. Meanwhile, a total of around 1783 departures would be allowed for the foreign airlines. The Summer Schedule of 2022 has commenced from March, 27, 2022 to October 29, 2022.
DGCA has also said that a total 1466 departures have been approved to 43 international destinations in 27 countries. According to the decided schedule, Indigo airlines will carry 505 departure operations in a week, which is followed by Air India 361, Air India Express that will operate 340 departures , Spice Jet 130, Go Air (GoFirst now) 74 and Vistara that’s accorded with 56 departure operations.
Additionally, a total of 60 International airlines have got the onus of operating 1783 departures to and from India during the “Summer Schedule 2022.” The Gulf based carrier, Emirates has the highest departure operations to be carried out at 170 per week. It’s followed by Oman Air at 115, Air Arabia that will operate 110, Qatar Airways at 99, Gulf Air at 82, Etihad Airways at 80, Saudi Arabian Airlines at 63 and Kuwait Airways at 56.
Other airlines which also have been given the approval are the Sri Lankan Airlines that will operate 128 departures in a week, Singapore Airlines at 65, British Airways at 49, Thai Airways at 36, The German Lufthansa at 32, Malaysian airlines at 30, Japan Airlines at 22, Air France at 20, KLM Royal Dutch at 18 and the Aeroflot Russian Airlines at 6.
The center on the other hand has also allowed the operations to and from India of airlines like American Airlines, Qantas, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi and Salam Air. Of late, the Indian government allowed and resumed the International passenger services from 27th of March.
After recognizing the global coverage of the vaccinations across the world and consulting all the stakeholders, the government decided to resume the International operations from 27th March 2022, this year. This was announced in an official communiqué by the Government of India on 8th of March.
The International commercial flights were suspended till 26th of March 2022. Last month, the civil aviation regulator had extended the ban on International commercial flights until “further orders.”
On March 23, 2020, India had banned International flights after the pandemic and as a preventive measure to control the spread of pandemic. Later in 2021 India announced the plans for allow the international flights from December 15, 2021. Though, this was postponed as there was the spread of the third global covid-19 wave.
