JET BLUE AIRWAYS REVIEW & BAGGAGE POLICY

JetBlue Airways is a New York-based low-cost carrier. It serves non-stop flying services to over 85 destinations within the United States as well as to other parts of North America and South America. Jet Blue is primary operating base located at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. Its fleet is primarily configured with just an Economy Class cabin and two-cabin service is available on a limited number of routes. As JetBlue is not a part of any major airline alliance and it does have codeshare arrangements with more than 35 other airlines.

JetBlue Airways is the 6th-largest airline in the United States with its headquarters in the neighbourhood of the New York City with its main base at John F. Kennedy International Airport.  The airline mainly serves several destinations in the United States alone with flights to Mexico, Bermuda, Peru, Cuba, Colombia, Costa Rica, Jamaica, and much more. In April 2017, JetBlue increases its destinations to 101 in the U.S., Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and South America.

JetBlue Baggage Allowance:

The JetBlue baggage policy includes the following:

  • Carry-on baggage.
  • 1 personal item – No applicable fee
  • 1 carry-on item – No applicable fee
  • Checked baggage / Hold luggage – The fee per bag will increase with number checked.
  • Overweight and Oversize bags – The fees per bag depending on weight and size categories.
  • Sports equipment – Might have applicable fee will apply on certain items.

JetBlue Checked Baggage / Hold Luggage Policy:

JetBlue does not accept your checked baggage more than 6 hours before your scheduled departure time. All bags must be checked at the airport:

  • For domestic flights: at least 40 min before the departure.
  • For international flights: at least 60 min before the departure.

Extra baggage:

Depending on your fare, different numbers of checked bags may be included. The applicable fee applies for the third bag and any additional bag.

Oversize and Overweight baggage:

If your bags cross the limited size or weight, then these may be accepted with the additional charges. OR those bags that do not meet the size and weight restrictions will require special handling and additional fees.

Delayed OR Damaged Baggage:

It is important to make a baggage claim with a JetBlue crewmember at the airport if your bag is delayed or damaged. If you have already left the airport, call the JetBlue Baggage Service Office at the airport within 4 hours after arrival. After this, give written notice to the JetBlue for any baggage related claim within 21 days.

For international travel:

  • In case of damaged baggage, written notice must be made within 7 days from the date of receipt of the checked baggage.
  • In case of delayed/lost baggage, notify the airline representative within 21 days from the date on which the checked baggage should have been returned to the passenger.

Sporting equipment:

As per the rules, any type of golf equipment is accepted on all flights of JetBlue. There is no additional charge or oversized fee attached to golf bags as long as they are within weight limitations. If you are carrying a golf bag, then it will be counted as one of your checked bags. The restrictions linked to it are as follow:

One golf bag should not more than following stuff:

  • 14 golf clubs
  • 3 golf balls
  • One pair of golf shoes

You are required to pack all the equipment in a hard-sided container. JetBlue can accept the Golf Bags in a soft-sided travel bag also but the airlines are not liable for damage to the bag.

Food & Drinks:

Choose from a wide selection of complimentary brand name snacks and beverages on every flight of Jet Blue. You can enjoy the facility of a wide variety of Alcoholic beverages of various popular brands. The airline let you choose from the EatUp boxes or EatUp Café.

You can enjoy quality food which is immersed in local flavors. For the sweet lovers, there is the availability of milk bar and local gourmet ice creams with espresso-based drinks from Brooklyn Roasting Company and much more items like that.

DIRECTV®:

If you are flying with JetBlue, then you can enjoy the 36 complimentary channels from DIRECTV®, and the #1 all-digital values with better programming and superior reception.

Movies:

Each month, 6 movies are hand-selected from country’s top studios; 3 movies on outbound flights and 3 movies on inbound flights, with one title available in Spanish on Caribbean flights. Movies are free on all flights.

SiriusXM Radio®:

You can listen to your favorite music from the 100 channels of SiriusXM Radio®. It is free at every seat.

Wi-Fi:

Wife is also available on selected flights.

Amazon on JetBlue:

JetBlue offers Amazon Video unlimited, streaming entertainment with Fly-Fi®! Customers can enjoy this high-quality and reliable streaming experience.  It provides additional benefits that include Amazon Originals programming on seatback televisions.

It only allows Amazon Prime members to instantly access tens of thousands of movies and TV episodes, including exclusive Amazon Original Series. In addition, all customers can rent or purchase titles in the Amazon Video store, including new release movies and day-after TV programming.

Other Services

For Infants:

Those children, who are up to 2 years old or 24 months, are not required to have their own seat. You can take them on your lap.

  • Only one lap child is allowed per adult.
  • If more than 1 infant under the age of 2, is traveling with 1 adult, then a seat have to be purchased for an additional
  • Purchase a seat for your infant as long as you have the proper child restraint device.
  • A ticket will have to be purchased if the infant is over 2 years old.

For Unaccompanied Minors:

The young children traveling without a parent or legal guardian are considered as Unaccompanied Minors. Most airlines assist these children from their point of departure to their final destination.

  • The service is mandatory for children age 5-14 traveling without an adult.
  • Children under 5 years of age are not allowed to travel without an adult.
  • Unaccompanied Minors are only allowed on non-stop flights. They are not permitted on connecting or direct flights.

For Pets:

Pets that meet the following qualifications are allowed to travel in passenger cabin:

  • Your pet is comfortably sit in its kennel, under the seat for the entire flight.
  • Only domesticated dogs and cats are allowed.
  • The dimensions of kennel: Size does not exceed 17 x 12.5 x 8.5 inches or weight more than 20 lb/9 kg.
  • You can choose a soft-sided Sherpa carrier that is 13 x 10 x 8.5 and 3.5 lbs.
  • Your pet has all necessary health documents required by your destination.

It was the first time that I am flying with JetBlue from Detroit to Ft Lauderdale and I’m writing this review while I’m in the air because there is the availability of free wi-fi. Here every passenger can enjoy incredible services from the talented and well-skilled staff. The unique thing which I notice is that the captain introduced himself before we flew. When we hit turbulence the captain made sure not only to switch the seatbelt sign on and he took the time to reassure the passengers. He made the passengers feel so much safer. The seats had plenty of room and the services of the staff were also excellent.

I have flown in JetBlue from Philadelphia to Fort Lauderdale and I must say that I was impressed from beginning to end. The check-in staff was helpful and friendly. The flight attendants were excellent. The departure and arrival experience both was lawless. The onboard amenities are exceptional.

I flew home last night flight from Las Vegas to New York JFK in flight 1248. This was the first flight I have flown where the captain came over the PA and made an announcement assuring us about the turbulence. I felt he did everything he can possibly do to try and avoid the constant turbulence to make a peaceful flight. I will make sure to make JetBlue as my first flight choice in the future.

The only criteria to book my connecting flight from Boston to JFK on this airline were the very convenient departure time. I had not flown on this airline before nor did I have any idea what I was going to expect. From entering the Terminal C in Boston until leaving, it was a unique and breathtaking experience. Everything looked as classy like out of some Hollywood movie as there were no lines at security and I was through in a breeze. Doors were closed on time. The seats were comfortable even for me as a tall guy. I took advantage of the live television broadcast on the individual screens and caught up with the latest political and weather news. Without any doubt, Jet Blue is the best American domestic carrier I have ever flown on.
