Southwest Airlines Will Continue Early Bag Check At Sky Harbor Airport

At Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Southwest Airlines will continue its early bag-check service. This service will go on through December.

It means that the holiday travelers flying through the airline will be able to drop their bags remotely rather than schlepping them to the airport.

This service was available for the passengers of United, American and Southwest airlines.

This move comes as the airport planned to end the program on 30th of November after five years which lead to a decline in passenger demand and rise in costs.

As per the officials, the airline will provide this service at least through the holidays. The airline is paying for the service, operated by the airport’s previous contractor, Bags Inc.

This program will let the passengers drop off bags at East Economy parking, the PHX SkyTrain station near 44th and Washington streets. Talking about the fees, regular baggage charges will be applied.

When it comes to baggage limits, Southwest allows the passengers to travel with two free checked bags. Plus, there are charges for additional bags and overweight bags.

At Sky Harbor Airport, Southwest is the second busiest carrier after American Airlines. Southwest handles more local passengers than any other airline. American holds the first spot as it has a number of connecting passengers.

The other major airlines like American and United stated that they do not have any plan to offer early bag check.
